After Dark Invitational

Last night Mount Washington had some of the island’s best freestylers hurling themselves into the stratosphere for a chance to win 3000 bucks. $1500 for the best skier and $1500 for the best snowboarder. I was lucky enough to be watch/shoot this event.

Unfortunately the competition was at night, and as we all know cameras love light. So that became a bit of a challenge, considering I don’t have any Pocket Wizards yet to use off camera flash. Also my flash’s batteries had died part way through the contest.

Only a month left and this season’s over. What am I gunna do with myself? Get a job maybe…

Great shots from the competition – even with the lighting difficulties!

Dipping the port underwater during a high performance maneuver is pretty risky, especially when you're not using a wide lens. Sometimes you blow shots, get pissed and keep swimming. But other times you get a neat one of @cohenscorner and it ends up on @surfline ! Even though every time I look at this shot I think about how sweet the next frame would have been, just leaves me wanting more.
