BC Ferry

Being from the island, I’ve think taken the ferry more than enough for one lifetime.
When I played football, it was once a week for 3 months for 5 years.
Working in Whistler we took it 2 times a week for 8 months straight.
With lots of family being from Vancouver, every other holiday was worthy of a ferry ride.
And of course numerous random adventures to the mainland.

With all my vast experience of BC ferries, I know that the most officiant way to get off the boat is to head to the bottom car deck. It might be loud as hell down there, but at least you get the front row seat of the ferry docking. Bring some headphones, and don’t forget your camera.

Revelstoked

1st road trip of the season, REVELSTOKE.
I had never been to Revelstoke Mountain before, but I can easily say it is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Epic mountains, amazing terrain, it wasn’t even a pow day but the riding was still wicked. Not to mention a rad crew of Aussies (and Meg) to shred with. Focused all my attention on riding the first day, second day I brought out the camera (just a 50mm lens). As we rode up the gondola it was a photographers nightmare, a grey day. Just when I thought I had lost my chance to shoot some amazing scenery, BAM!!! I’ll let my photos tell that story.
All and all a good trip, don’t worry Revy I’ll be back soon. Next up: Whitewater?

Pachena Bay 2011

August long weekend became host to our annual Pachena Bay camping trip.
I’ve never brought my camera here before, but this year I didn’t want to miss out on any oppurtunity. Now, normally I try to avoid drinking & playing with my camera. But I had a drink in my hand basically the whole time. I didn’t take a lot of photos, but here are a couple.

Mearse Island

We took a boat over to Mearse Island the other day, it’s free cause we’re locals (awesome right?) I took some photos, then we got lost and bush-wacked it for a while. An afternoon well spent I’d say.

Self-Portrait

I wanted to take a nice self-portrait of myself, since I’ve never made one that I haven’t digitally manipulated to make trippy. God knows I can’t take myself too seriously, during a test shot a crossed my eyes. To be honest, I liked it a lot better than all the “proper” ones. During the Photoshop process, one thing lead to another, and I still don’t have a self-portrait that isn’t abstract… There’s always next time.

Why Not?

I came home to find my friend Davin in my house:
Him – “I’m going to Tofino right now, wanna come with?”
Me – “…Let me put on some pants while I think about it.”

It’s cold on this boat, lets chill in the sun.

“Why would you wanna leave a plane in Cameron Lake?”

Old building we found on our hike.

So this is where they leave the planes…

Close up.

Hornby Free Store

Labour Day weekend my friends and I went over to Hornby Island for the last possible camping trip of the summer. I didn’t take too many photos this trip, but I did take a few outside of the very popular and well-known “Free Store”.

Tuff Town

I randomly went to Tofino for 2 hours this weekend, figure I would sit around and shoot some surfers.
Unfortunately there was very few surfers out, none of which were very good, and the waves were super small. Oh well, I have a feeling I’ll be shooting lots of surfing within the next while here, one step at a time.

Tofino

This weekend my class went on the annual Tofino camping trip for our landscpae & nature course.
I love Tofino, but Im not really into this class. I found myself mostly laying on the beach, drinking beer, and burning things on the fire whenever possible. But we did have an assignment to go along with this trip, here are some photos I took:

Mexcio Travels

This year I was lucky enough to spend Christmas in Mexico, we stayed in the small fishing village of La Penita. This being my first time here, it was the complete opposite of what my friends told me it would be like. No clubs/discos, no all-inclusive resorts, not even a nude beach. Just really cheap beer, and some awesome scenery.

I was extremely trigger happy and I have way too many photos I love from this trip, this is just a hand full of my favourites. Enjoy!

This one is my favourite, this little building was across the hostel we stayed at
