Back At It

Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately, here’s what’s been going on:

  • I fractured my tibia 2 weeks ago, so I’ve been taking it easy (for the most part).
  • The internet where I live sucks, big time.
  • I’ve mostly just been filming surf, and saving up the footage.

Here is a quick shot of the crew heading home yesterday after a gnarly surf sesh at a disclosed location.

Also, here’s some quick footage of an unknown surfer just shralpin’ the morning away.

Today’s Lesson

Due to recent events, I’ve acquired a part-time back up position as the Surf Club photographer at Long Beach Lodge Resort. All the photos are pretty stock and boring (to me), but here’s one of Garrett’s afternoon lesson that I shot yesterday.

This next one is from earlier today

Raph Bruhwiler

After my surf yesterday, I grabbed my camera to film some friends for a surf movie I’m making (that’s right). Just so happened to find local pro Raph Bruhwhiler on his last wave in and I got a chance to film his line.

Hat’s Off

How many surfer’s does it take to screw in a light bulb?
8.
1 to hold the ladder.
1 to turn the bulb.
1 to update Facebook.
and 5 yelling “Sick turns brooo!”

It’s amazing what you can see if you just look out the right window.

Snell Michael Michaels

During Earth Hour we sat in the dark playing fooseball by candle light and watching surf movies on a lap top (unplugged). In the midst of all the excitement “saving the earth”, I asked my housemate Mike Snell if I could use him as a model to practice some lighting techniques. He was in the middle of an all day hangover, and really didn’t want to move. Telling me that he was just going to lounge on the couch in sweats and not smile, I said: “Perfect.”

PS – I’ve changed around my watermark a little, let me know what you think!

Evan McNamara

In Tofino when the waves aren’t quite cooperating, we trade our surfboards for skateboards and head to the park to ride the concrete wave. Evan and I head out for a skate sesh last night, and I decided to stop shralpin for a moment and grab my camera. It was starting to get dark and Evan is a bit camera shy, so I decided against photos and tried my luck at filming for a bit. This is my first time FILMING skateboarding, and I really wish I had a fisheye lens. No stress, it’s all in good fun.
(We found a sick photo op spot, expect some bangers soon.)
