My name is Marcus Paladino from Vancouver Island, BC.
I’ve never set out to be anything particular, just stay passionate and be positive. I don’t really consider myself an “Action Sports Photographer”, I’m more of a snowboard bum who loves taking photos. At 21 years of age, I like to think I’m living the dream.
Unlike most masters of this trade, I attended school for specifically for photography. Since I lived half an hour away from Mount Washington, I found myself on the hill before and after almost every class. My instructors got pretty fed up with me trying to incorporate snowboarding into every assignment. As soon as I graduated I headed for the mountains with the knowledge, my heart, and a large unpaid student loan. Here I am today, living/working/riding/shooting at Sun Peaks Resort. With a smile on my face and a terrible surfing addiction (thanks Tofino).
A quote from Bob Plumb can sum up what I’m going for: “Snowboarding and photography is a passion, not a job. If you keep it that way, you’ll always be happy.” It took me this long to realize that my only real goal in life is just to be truly happy.
Money doesn’t buy happiness… But it would help to pay for better photography gear.
